2/5/05 COMMENTS BOX 1: "In 2002 and 2003 I received 3 kitties total. One with FIP that died, one that tested positive for FeLV, and the third kitten was sick with URI and ringworm but is currently healthy and happy :) Hello... I'd love to check out your site. I have had bad experiences with Melanie Lowry and as an inexperienced breeder, I wasn't sure how to handle it or her, so after many emails and phone calls with her, I finally let it go....

How many kittens did you actually pay for Kristi?

Wasn't your cat shipped to you? How did it get a health certificate from the vet to fly if it had ringworm and an upper respiratory? Wasn't the health certificate dated the same day the cat was shipped?

Didn't Lowry take you to the vet the same day you brought the kitten back and re-test that cat? Wasn't she negative? Didn't she test both parents, and siblings? Didn't she also test , just for your satisfaction several others in her colony?

Shame on you as a breeder for making a complaint here on a site that no one in the breeding community wants anything to do with, and where the webmaster has been suspended from  CFA for animal welfare issues, and harassing, stalking and slander other breeders.

  • Today I thought I'd Google her name to see if I could find anyone who fallen to her as well.
  • Unfortunately, I wasn't at all surprised to find more HORRIFIC stories similar to mine. I'm sure there are more out there... "I have not filed any complaints against her and there really isn't anything I would accept as a compromise from Melanie at this point in time... but I would like to help the INNOCENT by letting them know that they should ABSOLUTELY avoid Melanie like the PLAGUE.
  • My children had a very difficult time and struggled after I received 2 sick kittens from her, 1 which died from FIP and the other which tested positive for FELV ... thank goodness I knew to isolate from my other cats until tested or it could have been much worse...
  • What a liar you are here Kristi, the one who tested positive for Felv was not and has never been sick, it was just a faulty test result and you know that! Besides one of your kids was 6 weeks old, how affected could she be? The other one was what 2? Sheesh! You made the decision to return the one cat even though she tested negative on a second test, and kittens are notorious for false negatives if tested before 16 weeks of age. Let's try the truth here for a change, since Zizzo never checks any of these complaints out to see if they are legitimate, or asks for documentation. We have the test results, remember!
  • It looks as if Melanie is an EVIL EVIL person who cares only about money and nothing about her cats or the people/families that she's affected.
  • I see that she has moved from the house on the hill- I was only allowed to step foot in her living room, but have a feeling that behind her bedroom door there were far more than the 15 cats she allowed me to see in her living room and caged in her tiny kitchen....
  • I have moved on... but, I would be willing to share my experience on your site. Thank you "K" from Arizona"

This comment is from Kristi Kortmeyer of Phoenix, Az, read the whole story here since this is NOT it!

  • 2/10/05 COMMENTS BOX 2:"Melanie Lowry is a storyteller who is desperately trying to salvage her reputation, which has been DEVASTATED by her eagerness to sell unhealthy kittens to innocent people.
  • Melanie's response is a bunch of falsehoods.
  • Not hardly, why don't you enlighten us with which ones are the  falsehoods! Remember we have the paper work!
  • If all of Melanie's so called "Facts" were true, then I would've been quite a happy customer, right?!
  • In fact, if her "Facts" were true, wouldn't I be supporting her instead of this website?
  • I have nothing to gain by discrediting Melanie. I am embarrassed for her.
  • You should be the one embarrassed, for not telling the truth.
  • She obviously has a problem with reality- she now has 7 separate instances where former customers have been swindled and/or deceived by her.
  • There is only one Kristi, to bad you cannot count, the rest are all fabricated by Zizzo, and you should have gone to the breeder first, shame on you!
  • Could it be a coincidence that we have similar complaints? Doubtful.
  • And I'm quite certain there are many more customer's with unfortunate stories who haven't yet discovered the P-CBS website.

  • In sharing my experience I only hope that:

  • a). others will come forward and

  • b). that my story can save at least ONE person from being her next prey.

  • Following this email I will not respond, refute, or entertain ANY of Melanie's additional STORIES.
  • I've told the truth as it was. Shame on you, Melanie!
  • shame on you Kristi for not telling all of the truth!
  • There are MANY notable, reputable breeders who truly CARE about the health and future of their cats and Melanie Lowry is not one of them.
  • I wish P-CBS the best of luck in your efforts to stop corrupt bree ders from taking advantage of the trusting public and from medically neglecting precious kittens!
  • You ladies are brave and I wish you much success!"
    From: K from Arizona"
  • This is part of the same complaint not a separate complaint as Zizzo would have you believe, once again the truth is here
  • 3/15/05 COMMENT BOX 3 "I have read up on the Zizzo and Lolimops information. I have some problems with Lolimops and the way the cattery is run. First of all, if I pay a deposit to a breeder, I danged well better receive something for it. Keeping a deposit without producing a healthy animal is, in my opinion, criminal and should be treated as such. I have dealt with many breeders of cats and dogs in my lifetime and never, not once ever, have I had a breeder keep a deposit. Even the good faith deposit on a piece of real estate is returned if the purchase does not go through. This is common courtesy and good business sense. Anyone not going by this moral guideline should NOT be in business. Furthermore, what I do or don't do with a pet is my business and not the breeder's business. If I want to breed the little tyke when he/she is old enough, then that is between me and my vet, not the breeder. I also highly believe in inspecting a breeder's business area, obtaining information (including vet records) of all pets I am interesting in purchasing including the records of the parents and grandparents and being made aware of any issues with that line upon asking. I want it all in writing and if that is not done, I take my business elsewhere.

    Talking out your butt here!

You have dealt with breeders all your life and they never kept a deposit, how many deals did you back out of? They didn't even keep it if you actually took the animal?

It is the breeder's decision and should be whether or not an animal should be bred. What if the breeder knows of a genetic problem passed on thru this line, what if the breeder decides this animal is "pet" quality and not suitable to better the breed? Did you take into consideration these things and more for maybe the breeder being the wiser one about which animals should be bred and which should not?

Furthermore, if I want to introduce my newly purchased animal to other animals within the household, it is my right and moral thing to do since said animals will be living under the same roof. All my animals have clean bills of health which can be produced at a moments notice because I keep meticulous vet records. If an animal comes to my home and gets sick, the sickness came from somewhere other than my home.

Then why does almost every vet, every registry, every breeder, and every research organization recommend this? Because of stress! The new little baby will be stressed by a new environment, thus lowering his immune system!

This person is definably really smart! Even if the animal has been in your house for almost a year the breeder is still responsible? Let's have some accountability on the owners part, animals never get sick in their own homes? Wow, to bad the vets don't know that! It would put them right out of business!

I do not breed animals, never cared to breed them because I believe there are too many in the world today that are unloved. I abhore mills where pets are breed with no specific and permanent home for them. Animals should NOT be breed until each and everyone is accounted for somehow, somewhere. By the same token, customers should not be locked into purchasing and neither should they be blackmailed into purchasing with the threat of refusing to return a deposit. There are most often excellent reasons for not going through with a purchase. If a denial is made then the breeder should figure that it is for the best. If the breeder cannot care for animals breed by him/her if not placed then maybe they should get out of the breeding business.

If the breeder cancels the sale the deposit should be returned or allowed to be placed on another animal. That is not what we are talking about her though is it?

This is my 2 cents worth on the subject. From what I have heard from all directions of this saga, I wouldn't buy an animal from any of these breeders. The quote of "all breeders have no refund on deposits" is hogwash. I know of several right now that do offer deposit refunds. Myself and several members of my family own(ed) champion breed animals and we have gotten refunds on deposits before. It is NOT standing policy among breeders to not offer refunds when the deal goes sour or something happens where delivery is not possible on either side. Again, I know several breeders quite well that have a standing policy to refund monies on deposits. Several have even offered to take animals back in exchange for another animal if something went wrong with the critter in question. I find this entire saga disheartening and cruel."

It is of course standing policy among breeders to not offer refunds if the buyer just changes their mind. It is listed that way on almost every breeders' website you got, from cats to horses!

And that is all it is worth, 2 cents!

    Just my two cents worth,
    Guest001 and sidewatcher"

This comment is from Susan Ives, a person who lives in Texas and has never met or done business with Lollimops, or Melanie, just a wacko making a comment using Zizzo's warped information.

3/22/05 COMMENTS BOX 4 "The way in which some breeders demand full deposits without the possibility of refunds is, in my opinion, criminal. I have only had one refund in my life on a pedigree animal. Putting animals on hold for holidays is irresponsible and a practice breeders should abolish as responsible pet owners. Pets are not holiday presents. They are family and as family should be treated as such. Animals are living breathing entities with self awareness who deserve respect.
Lot's of people buy pets as presents for loved ones. What is the matter with this person? We smell an animal rights activist with crazy notions. Like a PETA person, who wants to eliminate all animals as pets!

And please , how else do you hold an animal if not with a deposit? This only being a $100.00.
As to shelters, I have yet to find a "no kill" shelter. Even where I live, some thousand miles away, no "no kill" shelters exist and yes, I have saved many animals from these shelters. If it were up to me, I would limit the number of breeders in this country. Demand is not high enough so this brings about animal mills, which I despise. The limited breeders I deal with limit breeding. They only breed when they are certain each kit or pup will find a safe, loving home. I deal with only quality breeders which I why I have no direct knowledge of this supposed no refund policy. Each quality breeder I deal with has no such policy. Their first concern is the safety of the animal, not the size of the the sales. Therein lies the difference between a quality breeder and one that is say morally questionable."

Look this is the same person, and this was all from one email, again not a separate comment as Zizzo tries to make it look

3/24/05 COMMENT BOX 5 "If a breeder is doing nothing wrong then they have nothing to fear from any publicity. However, if wrongs are happening then it should make them nervous. The conspiracy theory you shove down everyone's throat is the only drivel on this thread - not me. Ever hear of Occam's Razor or the KISS principle? Occam's Razor states that the simplest solution is the correct one. The KISS principle is: Keep it simple, stupid. Who would believe a conspiracy plot against breeders against the simple truth of morally questionable ethic behavior? I believe there was a problem and maybe it has been corrected. I do not know. What I do know is cages are rattling and the ones that seem to be the most vocal with the denials are highly likely to be the guilty parties. Why else rant and rave? If nothing is wrong, take it easy. Relax already. If you run a top-notch business then you will not lose business. Word of mouth is the best advertisement anyhow. Customers know and customers tell. It is very simple. Keep the customer content and do the right thing. How difficult is that? It is not. One more time... you can climb down off the cross. The wood is needed elsewhere; you are not a martyr."

Same person here, Susan Ives, talking about something she has no personal knowledge of, no first hand information, this was all one post by Susan Ives, why do you think Zizzo tried to make it look like three separate people? To generate more fodder for her site!

3/28/05 Comment Box 6 "PLEASE SAY ITS NOT TRUE, MY SISTER BOUGHT A KITTEN FROM HER AND SHE ACTUALLY GAVE ME A KITTEN WITH AN EYE INFECTION, BUT I KNEW UP FRONT AND WAS WILLING TO NURSE HIM AND TAKE CARE OF HIM BUT ALL THESE HORROR STORIES ARE SCARING ME, I HAVE A 7 MONTH OLD FROM ANOTHER BREEDER AND IF HE IS IN ANY WAY THREATENED BY THE FACT TAHT THIS KITTEN IS IN THE HOUSE SCARES THE HECK OUT OF ME."
    Posted By: DAWNA WALTER

This person wrote this in the middle of the night, AFTER RECIEVING A FREE KITTEN, when Lowry tried to contact her and go get the kitten the next morning, Dawna refused to let it go, said she just took the kitten to the vet and the vet said he was perfect and for her to apologize to Lowry, there was nothing to worry about. Dawna's other kitten was from Diana Bogart who got her breeding stock from Lowry and has been her friend for 10 years, the mother of her other kitten having been on loan to Bogart from Lowry.

And here is Dawna's apology to Lowry, as you can see she even wrote to Zizzo, but once again Zizzo refused to do the right thing.

TELL ME WHAT I CAN DO I HAVE WRITTEN EVERYONE I CAN TO TRY AND UNDO THIS MESS, SHE DOESNT POST RETRACTIONS??? I WROTE TO COMPLAIN ABOUT HER I WROTE EVERY WEBSITE THAT BAD MOUTHED YOU AND SAID GREAT THINGS WHAT ELSE CAN I DO??? I REALLY DONT KNOW IM SORRY, YOU SHOULD HAVE TOLD ME ABOUT THIS CRAZY WOMAN UP FRONT. I REALLY DONT KNOW WHAT ELSE TO SAY. OH AND BY THE WAY I KNOW THIS WONT FIX A THING OR MAKE ANY THING BETTER BUT TOPHER IS A LOVE AND HE SITS HERE IN MY LAP AS I TYPE. HE REALLY IS A GOOD BABY AND I DO THANK YOU FOR GIVING HIM TO ME. YOU LET ME KNOW I WILL GIVE BLOOD IN YOUR NAME ILL GO TO COURT ILL SWEAR ON MY MOTHER I DONT KNOW HOW TO FIX THIS. IM SORRY ONCE AGAIN, DAWNA

4/15/05 COMMENT BOX 7"I bought from her in 98 and didn't see anything wrong. Isn't the twenty cats thing for a resedential home and isn't she considered a breeder. I'm generally very picky about this stuff and don't see how I wouldn't have picked up on it. All the kittens looked healthy and playfull to me. It could definately have changed since then though so I don't know and won't say there isn't anything wrong with her. I'm more into stopping dog puppy mills but I seriouesly didn't see anything wrong then. I'll admitt whre my dogs breeders go through a hundred point inspection I didn't worry to much about the kittys one. Her house did reek of cat piss but I've never gone into someones house that has more than three cats whose house didn't reek of it. Its somethng they become adjusted to and with breeding males is probally close to impossible to avoid. I just wanted to say that when i was there it seemed fine but that was seven years ago.Butt Our kitty has always been very healthy. Sorry for anyone that did get sickly kitties." Jocelyn

Shame on you Jocelyn for going behind Melanie's back to post this especially since you did not have a problem with her and got a healthy cat, and by your admisssion "all the kittens looked healthy and playful" But of course Zizzo, ever the optimist, highlights the only negative part here.

    3/14/05 COMMENT BOX 8
"7:48:31 PM Questions for breeder. Melanie: I am assuming you are the breeder in the above complaint. I have some questions for you.

Are you, as a breeder and business owner, saying that you intend to keep all deposits without ever returning monies paid for your kitt
ens? If you are in fact saying this then you have terrible business ethics.
Deposits have been returned, to buyers Lowry decided did not have the best intentions for the kittens, became difficult or and one for a kitten that unexpectedly died. And if you read enough of Zizzo's garbage you will know instantly that this sentence was written by her!
As mentioned above, my mother and I have had many champion breed animals in our homes over the years. My mother had a kitten all the way from Belgium, Germany once. We worked through the money conversion and shipping to ensure a smooth transaction. We have both bought champion breed dogs. My mother has waited as high as six months and more for a particular pup. She prefers chosing pups before they are weaned from their mom. One she wanted and had placed a deposit on did not make it. Did our breeder take her deposit? No. She offered to either refund the deposit or let my mother choose from another litter or wait until those parents were bred again.

The breeder should have done this and if there had been something wrong with the kitten Bill Carr wanted, his money would have been returned, BUT he just changed his mind, the week before Christmas! Leaving the breeder hanging!

My mother waited several months before picking out her puppy. Never once did our breeder try to pull one over on her. This is the difference between quality breeders and those that are say... morally questionable.

I have no idea where you get the idea that breeders can just take people's money in any fashion they want. This is a horrid way to do business. You must not get a lot of repeat business.

The only one that has ever complained in 25 years of Lowry's doing business, is Zizzo's son, the supposed BILL CARR and his wacky wife. Lowry gets a lot of repeat business!

If I were in the market for a champion-bred kitten, your business would not make the list. It is not because of the initial complaint. It is solely on the basis of your response. Refusing deposits is just bad business.

I am fully aware of how businesses run from the perspective of the buyer and the seller. I have six years of college in accounting and business, fifteen years keeping a business going, and an additional five years working for a large corporation in the contractor department. I had my own business for six years prior to learning I was going blind.

Let us say that your 6 years of college and fifteen years of running a business doesn't seem to have done you much good! And if you are blind how did you read all this fodder? Hmmmmm, me thinks this anotheZ zizzo impersonation.

The least you could do is give back 90 percent of the deposit, keeping 10 percent for your time and administrative costs. This, at the least, would make you sound more reputable. As it stands now, I could not recommend you as a breeder."
Samantha - Selma, North Carolina U.S.A.

Lowry does not know this person, this person also has not done business with Lowry, or ever talked to her, thus has no business making any comment at all about Lowry. If Zizzo were an honest rational person, and not so blinded by hate and anger, she would have known this. Zizzo is just generating more fodder for her site to slam Lowry with.

Refusing deposits is just bad business.  HUH?

Listen Samantha, the deposit was total $100.00, he was told up front it was not refundable should he "just changed" his mind, and he was asked to read that statement on website, which he did and agreed to before placing it, he was also advised that he did not have to place a deposit but then there was no guarantee that the kitten would be available Christmas Eve. He wanted to place the deposit before even seeing the kitten and Lowry told him not to until she could at least send a picture to him for approval. His mother Karen Menard was also advised, and talked to many times that day. This was not a huge deposit as some breeders charge, just $100.00 which in no way compensates the breeder for the loss of a sale, re-advertising, re-showing the kitten and feeding and care.  Zizzo's contract required a NON-REFUNDABLE  deposit also. He was also very insistent the the kitten be delivered to him, over a two hour drive from Lowry, she told him she was already going to a city closer to him to deliver two kittens to a disabled woman and could meet him there if he liked. He was grateful and in full agreement. So you do not have the whole story here and have no business making a comment. You do not know this breeder so why do you think you have any right to say "I could not recommend you as a breeder." Who asked you to?

6/19/05 COMMENT BOX 9 "Thank you for your warnings posted on the Internet about Melanie Lowry. I was searching for a Himi kitten and found this persons ad posted on Hoobly Classifieds web site (ad number 127901).

There was one problem with her web site that she emailed to me because there was no info about her cattery. Instead, only photos of beautiful kittens for sale. I did some research and was unable to find any info because she advertised her cattery as: http://www.geocities.com/reid ycreek/

We had several email conversations and she introduced herself as Liz Mann. There was only one link to match these two names in one person, i.e., her telephone #, which still remains the same. When I inquired about FIP or PKD problems in her cattery, she declared that she never had any!

Why she is still authorized to run a cattery if you all claim she defrauds people and breeds sick cats. She should be prohibited immediately, in my opinion. Have anyone of you taken further steps?"

    Thanks, AnnMay

And Lowry has not had any cases of FIP in her cattery, this one case was in another cattery, Zizzo's for a year prior to getting sick. Why is Lowry responsible for a cat not in her care for a year, but in Zizzo's?

Lowry has also scannd all of her cats for PKD, so why does this woman try to make you  think Lowry is lying, if it is not Zizzo, then she does not even know Lowry and has never done business with her. But that point is moot, since this was Lowry's friend Liz Mann, who was out of town for the week-end so Lowry was taking her calls.

Guess who Anna May is, your right it is Zizzo posing as someone else just to make trouble for this breeder! Liz Mann is Lowry's good friend who has been attacked by Zizzo since she first started breeder two years ago, and Zizzo has been insistent that this person is Lowry, since she has cats from Lowry and Lowry made her website for her. She has now given up her short career as a breeder unable to cope with all the garbage thrown her way by Zizzo.

Guess what? This is Zizzo herself again making trouble, that is why the comment was returned to her!

If this person had actually "read" the Criticzone, then she would know that the comments were the same old, same old posted by Zizzo all over the web and now, a complaint that is more than 3 years old! She would also have read Estefan's comment about Zizzo's site being a fraud and hostile to visitors.
